Flex Wheeler - insights and Motivation

Kenneth ‘Flex’ Wheeler shares his insights and motivation, known as the ‘Sultan of Symmetry’ he has an impressive 17 professional titles throughout his career. Unfortunately for such an in tune professional athlete and great at his craft the Mr. Olympia crown has eluded him.

Arguably Flex is the best bodybuilder of all time. He won the Arnold Classic a record four times. In 1997, he achieved the coveted ‘triple crown’ by winning the Ironman, the Arnold Classic and the San Jose Classic.

And top bodybuilders Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronnie Coleman agree, both describing Wheeler as the greatest ever.

In terms of Flex’s flawless competing physique, it was everything bodybuilding represents, with a perfect combination of size, muscular definition, proportion, and symmetry.

Lee Haney – Insights and Motivation

The man who has gone down in history for breaking Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Olympia win record by taking 8 straight titles, also being the pioneer in how to get the most out of training thanks to many of his iconic images in publications. In the 1980’s, media exposure gave him a great platform, from having his own program on ESPN as well as his work on home videos.

These spotlights permitted Haney to market his very own approach of training which was to stimulate instead of annihilate. Although he did heavy weight training it was not to complete failure. Never maxing out to see what could be lifted in a single rep, as this was not important for him to achieve his bodybuilding goals.

Instead focusing on training for reps which helped improve his potential for hypertrophy as well as improving the shape of his muscles. Not going to failure also helped minimize the risk of injury and maintain his health.

This paid off for Haney because of how he feels today and that he doesn’t have the aches and pains a lot of retired champions have. The argument makes sense and many people have followed suit including future Olympia winners Dexter Jackson and Phil Heath. This also might be why we see a lot of older people who started in Haney’s era still training today.
